OhioLINK has been named a recipient of a $750,000 grant from Next Generation Learning Challenges (NGLC), a new initiative focused on identifying and scaling technology-enabled approaches to dramatically improve college readiness and completion, especially for low-income young adults. OhioLINK’s winning project will build off of its successful Ohio Digital Bookshelf program by creating multimedia and self-assessment tools to help students succeed in fundamental math and applied engineering courses. OhioLINK’s proposal was one of 29 recipients chosen out of 600 pre-proposals and 50 finalists.NGLC is led by EDUCAUSE in partnership with The League for Innovation in the Community College, the International Association of K-12 Online Learning, and the Council of Chief State School Officers. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation helped design the Next Generation Learning Challenges, and fund the initiative.“This grant funding from Next Generation Learning Challenges will provide a broader opportunity to help struggling students gain a better grasp on the fundamentals of math and applied engineering,” said Ohio Board of Regents Chancellor Jim Petro. “The tools which come out of this program will help create a stronger workforce for Ohio.” -- Stacy Brannan, Marketing and Communications Coordinator OhioLINK
