We can't help but wonder if there will be 76 Trombones and 110 cornets following soon (wink, wink).  Starting this summer Monday morning on a musical note.

Library Parking Lot Closed

Beginning today, July 19th, 2021, the Library parking lot - between Bixler and the Chapel -- is temporarily closed to make room for one of the largest cranes this Librarian has ever seen. Work is being done on the roof and Verizon is here working on the cell tower. To get to Archer Library's roof, the tallest buildings in the Ashland, they had to get the right crane for the job. 

The parking lot, sidewalks, and entrances just behind Archer Library are cordoned off to make room for the crane as well as for everyone's protection as they work in the area. OhioLINK deliveries may be impacted by the work as the loading dock is also inaccessible. 

Please make allowances if you normally use those areas. 

Library Eagles Past & Present

Have you seen Archer Library's Eagle? The newest Eagle on campus, it was unveiled at the naming ceremony in May. Honoring Bob and Jan Archer, our Eagle has not yet been named, but we thought it would be fun to share our new Eagle, along with pictures of past library Eagles from Ashland University Archives.

Stay tuned to the Archer Library News blog. Jess Byers, curator and reference librarian, will be exploring AU Eagles history and locations on campus in the coming months.

OhioLINK Maintenance: July 12

OhioLINK has notified member libraries that the following applications will be unavailable for up to 30 minutes on Monday, July 12, 2021 between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. during maintenance: 

• Electronic Journal Center 
• Electronic Theses and Dissertations Center
• A-Z Database List Member Portal

If you experience problems after the maintenance window, or need help with the same, contact the library at library@ashland.edu.

Platform Update: Web of Science

 Beginning Wednesday, July 7, all users will see the new Web of Science Platform.

From OhioLINK: "The new platform has a personalized and intuitive user experience with improved search capabilities, faster page loads, increased accessibility, responsive design for viewing on mobile and other devices." 

If you are new to Web of Science, tutorials for Getting Started with Web of Science are available from the publisher. Off campus use of this database requires authentication. If you experience problems, contact us at library@ashland.edu.

Library Hours: July 5th

Archer Library will be closed, Monday, July 5th, in observance of Independence Day. 

Summer hours will resume on Tuesday, July 6th.  A complete listing of library hours and updates is available on our website.
