DEI e-book collection

In 2021, the State Library of Ohio awarded American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grant funding from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) to OhioLINK for the purchase of a shared collection of unlimited-user, perpetual-access Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) e-books. 

A project team of OhioLINK member librarians selected 163 e-books in total to form the collection. The Phase 2 set of 81 additional titles is now available in the ProQuest Ebook Central platform.

About the ARPA Collection 

"This collection allows all OhioLINK member libraries to have access to a base e-book collection in this important and under-resourced area for learning and research. These e-books also could be used as teaching materials to introduce students to a diversity of voices that otherwise might not be available to them." -  OhioLINK, 12/27/23

OhioLINK Music Center 2.0

OhioLINK Music Center 2.0
The Music Center release provides a more updated look and feel and aligns the user interface with other OhioLINK-managed electronic resources such as the Electronic Journal Center (EJC) and Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETD) Center. The release includes a new feature that allows users to save frequent searches as a URL.

About the OhioLINK Music Center
The OhioLINK Music Center, a subset of the Naxos Music Library, is an online streaming music database of international works from Classical to Spoken Word. The 78,000+ tracks, 21,000+ works can be searched or browsed by track, title, performer, album, composer and date of composition. 

Access to the music files is restricted to the students, faculty and staff of OhioLINK member institutions. Off-campus authentication is required.

OhioLINK: Scheduled Maintenance

Planned Downtime

The following OhioLINK applications will be unavailable for up to an hour on Monday,  September 13, 2021 between 7:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. 

Users will be redirected to a systems maintenance page during the downtime. Affected services include: Electronic Journal Center, Electronic Theses & Dissertations Center, and the Electronic Book Center.

OhioLINK ETD 3.0

Planned Downtime

The OhioLINK Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETD) Center will be unavailable today, Monday, August 2, 2021, between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. while preparing for ETD 3.0. 

The ETD 3.0 release includes a new user interface, performance updates, improved digital accessibility, a 'link to this search' feature, and full-text searching.

OhioLINK Maintenance: July 12

OhioLINK has notified member libraries that the following applications will be unavailable for up to 30 minutes on Monday, July 12, 2021 between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. during maintenance: 

• Electronic Journal Center 
• Electronic Theses and Dissertations Center
• A-Z Database List Member Portal

Platform Update: Web of Science

 Beginning Wednesday, July 7, all users will see the new Web of Science Platform.

From OhioLINK: "The new platform has a personalized and intuitive user experience with improved search capabilities, faster page loads, increased accessibility, responsive design for viewing on mobile and other devices." 

If you are new to Web of Science, tutorials for Getting Started with Web of Science are available from the publisher. Off campus use of this database requires authentication. If you experience problems, contact us at library@ashland.edu.

June 26: ProQuest Ebook Maintenance

ProQuest’s Ebook Central platform is moving from its current server to Amazon Web Services (AWS). The move to AWS will take place on Saturday, June 26. 

ProQuest Ebook Central will be offline from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

During that time, users will not have access to holdings in Ebook Central. If you have questions, please contact at library@ashland.edu.

June 14: OhioLINK Extended Maintenance

OhioLINK has announced all platforms and services will undergo planned extended maintenance on Monday, June 14th from 7:00 p.m. to Midnight.

Two periods of up to 45 minutes of downtime are expected during the projected maintenance window. The following resources will be affected:

Governor’s Emergency Education Relief Library Resources

Thanks to funding from the Governor’s Emergency Education Relief funds from the Ohio Department of Higher Education and the OhioLINK Library Consortium, Ashland University Library is able to offer resources from 5 new platforms. These resources are multi-disciplinary and include a wide variety of ebooks, videos, classroom supplemental materials, and more. The platforms will be directly accessible through the library website on the AtoZ Database List and through the library catalog when available.

Database Maintenance: ProQuest

To maintain the currency and security of ProQuest products, there will be maintenance on many ProQuest products beginning on Saturday, January 19th at 10 pm eastern time. This maintenance is anticipated to be completed in 8 hours.

During this maintenance window, the affected products will be unavailable for use.  Included are:

• ProQuest Research Databases
• Alexander Street, 
• ProQuest Books
• ProQuest reference management & support tools, and 
• Bowker

Database Access Unavailable

We are currently experiencing problems with access to databases on and off campus from the library web site.  Limited results are available using OneSearch, the remainder of our resources are not connecting.  A help ticket has been submitted.

Access to databases on campus through OhioLINK's Research Database page is providing results at this time. Be sure to select the 'Listing of OhioLINK Provided Research Databases' option.

Database Access Restored

Database access is working fine again.  If that’s not the case for you just close and reopen your browser, and if problems persist let us know at library@ashland.edu.  If problems recur in the future keep in mind the alternate path to databases via OhioLINK.  Best wishes to all for the Winter Break!

Database Access

Access to research databases through the library webpages has been lost as maintenance takes place on University servers.  Many OhioLINK-provided databases, however, remain accessible through the OhioLINK website.  Look on the OhioLINK site for the Quick Link to Research Databases, select Ashland University, and click the link to the "Listing of OhioLINK Provided Research Databases." OhioLINK Maintenance June 26th

OhioLINK Services will be unavailable Monday evening, June 26th, from 10:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. because of maintenance. This includes the OhioLINK website, OhioLINK Catalog, OhioLINK Electronic Journal Center, and everything else OhioLink.

OhioLINK services will be down for maintenance on December 28th from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.  Affected services will include the OhioLINK web site, OhioLINK Catalog, OhioLINK Electronic Book Center, OhioLINK Electronic Journal Center, and the OhioLINK Digital Resource Center.
