The Library will have the following drop-in times available for NUR 210: Health Assessment in Nursing students February 23-27.

• Monday, 2/23: 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
• Tuesday, 2/24: 3 p.m. - 5 p.m.
• Wednesday, 2/25: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Thursday, 2/26: 2 p.m.- 4 p.m.

Stop in the Active Learning Lab, Archer Library main floor, for help locating articles for your project. Feel free to attend a drop-in session with your project partner, or individually. Drop-in hours are also posted to the library event calendar. See you soon!

Library Instruction: It's not too late!

Schedule Library Instruction

Need help with database searching, catalog use, or perhaps a general library information and resource overview for your students? It's not too late to schedule library instruction for November.  Our active learning lab is equipped for in-person, hybrid, and online instruction.

Call the reference desk at ext. 5402 or send an email to library@ashland.edu with your instruction request.  You may also contact your library liaison directly to discuss options.

Dedication Ceremony: Active Learning Lab

The new Bernice Fauber Baker Active Learning Classroom located in the Robert M. and Janet L. Archer Library will host a brief public dedication ceremony on Homecoming Saturday, October 23rd, at 10:30 am. The dedication will be preceded by an RSVP-only brunch on the Archer Library main level from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Brunch reservations can be made by emailing Sarah Thomas at sthomas4@ashland.edu. The reservation deadline is Friday, October 8th.

The Active Learning Classroom, first of its kind at AU, is equipped with both collaborative spaces and high-tech features that make it the most innovative classroom environment on campus. The classroom was built through a generous gift from the Fauber family through the Bernice Fauber Baker Endowment with matching funds from the Bob and Jan Archer Fund. Classroom technology and furnishing were provided through a grant from the State Library of Ohio and the Institute for Museums and Libraries (IMLS).

We are excited to announce a preview event for our new active learning lab. Drop by our open house and explore! We will have interactive challenges and displays to explore and a few light refreshments. 

 Library faculty and staff will be available to discuss active learning opportunities, answer questions, and schedule your next library instruction sessions.

An Inside View

The first delivery of  furniture for our new active learning lab arrived today! We have comfortable - and flexible - seating, small group work tables, and individual study areas. These photos were taken inside the new library instruction space, located on the main floor of Ashland University Library.

Carpet, paint, and technology (oh, my)! The Bernice Fauber Baker Active Learning Lab, located on the main floor of Ashland University Library, is progressing nicely. We can't help anticipating the completion of this exciting resource, and the impact it will have on library instruction and learning.

It is exciting to see progress continue on the Bernice Fauber Baker Active Learning Lab, located on the main floor of Ashland University Library. The glass wall and entrance door are in place, making it easy to envision how this lab will enhance library instruction and services.

Progress on the Bernice Fauber Baker Active Learning Lab, located on the main floor of Ashland University Library, continues. Drywall is in place and glass doors are scheduled to be installed this week. 

We are excited to see the construction updates on our innovative library instruction lab.

Ashland University Library’s faculty and staff are excited to announce that construction work has begun on a new active learning lab/classroom!

AU Library Active Learning Lab:  June 26, 2020

The Bernice Fauber Baker Active Learning Laboratory will have its home on the main floor of the library, with a design and technological features representing an innovative departure from the long rows of desks and desktop computers of the previous library classroom.
