Did you know it is possible to reserve a study room in the library?  Study rooms may be reserved for three hour blocks of time throughout the academic year.  

• Network computers in the study rooms print to the library main floor.  
• White boards are available for use
• Markers and erasers are available at the circulation desk.

Looking for a quiet nook for studying or small group work in the Library? The fourth floor has been re-purposed to incorporate three unique work areas providing tables, chairs, and comfy seating. Also available on this floor:

Databases: FDsys replaces GPO Access

America's Authentic Government Information, FDsys - Federal Digital System, has been added to the library's list of database resources. Replacing GPO Access, the Government Printing Office, FDsys "provides free online access to official Federal Government publications. Through FDsys, you are able to Search for documents and publications, browse for documents and publication actions (Congressional committee, and date), access meta data about documents and publications, and download documents and publications in multiple formats."

What's New: 21st Century Learning Skills

From AU News and the Dwight Schar College of Education, information about the 21st Century Learning Skills Summit scheduled for Columbus in early May.

21st Century Learning Skills Summit

Named as a “leadership state” with the national Partnership for 21st Century Skills, the state of Ohio has made a commitment to transform the public education system, improve the college readiness of students and build a globally competitive labor force. To kick off this commitment, an Ohio Summit on 21st Century Learning Skills will be held on May 4 at the Crown Plaza Hotel Columbus North at 6500 Doubletree Ave. in Columbus. Welcome Back!

OhioLINK: New Database

The OhioLINK blog What's New reports Ohio Capitol Connection has replaced the Gongwer News Service; this change is reflected on the library's Database by Title Page.

"Ohio Capitol Connection provides information about current and past legislation of the Ohio General Assembly. Updated daily, it has the complete status and full text of bills introduced in the Ohio General Assembly. This database includes rosters of House and Senate members searchable by name or location, and addresses and biographies of the General Assembly members. While the database focuses on Ohio, information about the Federal government is also available." - OhioLINK Databases

Juvenile Collection, Library 2nd Floor

For the remainder of the summer we will be moving juvenile books within the stacks on the library second floor. Working from the end of the collection to the beginning, an additional four sections will be allotted to juvenile books. This means more room on the shelf, an easier time locating and returning books to the stacks, and opportunity to grow the collection. During this time there will be large gaps in the stacks and the above sign placed in the empty sections. At any time, just move several sections to your right and the remainder of the collection will be at your fingertips.

Retirement Reception

The Provost’s Office and the library are hosting a retirement reception for library director Bill Weiss on Wednesday, May 6, from 2-4 p.m. in the library.

Please join us as we celebrate Bill's years of service to Ashland University Library and Ashland University.

Extended Library Hours Are Here!

Beginning Sunday, November 23, the library begins extended hours and will remain open until 2:00 a.m. on the following days to provide study space for interested students.

Sunday & Monday, 7:45 am to 2:00 am

Week of November 30th:
Sunday through Thursday, 7:45 am to 2:00 am

Week of December 7th:
Sunday thorough Wednesday, 7:45 am to 2:00 am

Library Notices Go Green!

AU Library is joining the campus-wide effort to conserve resources and Go Green. Beginning December 1, the Library will send notices by e-mail only.

Here are four ways to keep track of what you have checked out of the Library:

1. Look for the due date stamped on each item you have checked out. If you renew an item, write the new due date on your date due slip.
2. Check your AU e-mail account for library notices. If you rely primarily on a different e-mail account, set your AU account to forward messages automatically.
3. Check your library record online! On the library web site choose “My Library Account” from Quick Links.
4. Call or visit the library and ask us to check your account. We are always happy to assist you renewing items and determining when they are due.
   

Knowing when materials are due is your responsibility. Thanks for helping us Go Green.

New Library Web Site

The new library web site will launch today between 9:00 am and noon. Please note that the Library catalog will not be affected. If access to the catalog from the library web site is interrupted while the change-over is in process, please note the following direct links:
