Introducing Mango Languages

Mango is an online language learning system that teaches real conversation skills for practical communication. An interactive database, it provides step by step lesson plans over 70 languages. The database also features ESL course lessons taught in native languages.

In celebration of Constitution Day on Sept. 17, the Archer Library is pleased to share the Constitution Day LibGuide and an accompanying display on the main floor of the library. The LibGuide offers many classroom activities and e-resources and you are invited to pick up your own print copy of the U.S. Constitution from the display table.

"On June 19, 1865, Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas with the news that the more than 250,000 enslaved Black people in the state were free. This day came to be known as #Juneteenth, now officially a federal holiday" (NMAACH.SI Juneteenth).

Sexual Assault Trivia at the Library
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Test your knowledge about sexual assault myths and facts and about Title IX. Stop by the SAAM table on the main floor of the Archer Library, Tuesday, April 16th, from 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Each participant may enter a raffle ticket, even if their answer is wrong! You’ll learn the answer. The raffle winner will receive a large snack basket.

Faculty Publications LibGuide

The Ashland University Faculty and Staff are active members of the research community, and The Archer Library is proud to share these research publications with the larger community and encourage their access. This guide is meant to be a comprehensive compilation of all published works of those employed by Ashland University while working at Ashland University.

Current categories of accepted works include: Books, Journal articles, Conference Papers, Music Scores/Compositions, and Book Reviews. URL links are provided to the full text or record of the publication wherever possible. The publications are organized by College and then by author chronologically. 

About the Guide

  • Faculty & Staff Publication LibGuide is typically updated twice per year.
  • The Fall Update (Oct 1st) will include all new submissions that are sent in prior to the deadline of September 15th.
  • The Spring Update (June 1st) will include all new submissions that are sent in prior to the deadline of May 15th.

Guide Overview

This guide is presents a collection of library resources and information, including books and eBooks, database articles and journals, open access resources, and internet resources introducing the topic of Generative AI. Item selection spans a variety of articles and media,from introductory videos and general definitions, to database articles and research studies.

The introductory welcome statement was generated using ChatGPT with a prompt asking it to write an introduction "welcoming users to a library guide dedicated to generative AI. Professors have requested an introduction to ChatGPT as a research resource and/or research starter during library instruction sessions. The library instruction tab presents a general introduction to this concept, including a selection of ACRL Framework for Information Literacy standards, learner knowledge practices and dispositions, that may be addressed during classes. New! Main floor seating

Archer Library's new main floor furniture arrived late last week! Stop in, sit a spell, and try out the new chairs, coffee tables, foot stools. Conversation areas are set up throughout the area, centrally located between the circulation desk, writing center and IT help desk, and Lyceum Cafe. 

If you look closely, you will see the newly relocated faculty publications area. Below is a glimpse of the new area. We look forward to seeing you here.

EBSCO eBook Academic Collection

Archer Library is excited to announce the return of EBSCO's eBook Academic Collection to our eBook Collections. Access to this resource is currently featured in the New Databases section of the A to Z Database List.

About the Collection

This multidisciplinary collection includes more than 246,700 e-books covering a large selection of academic subjects such as business and economics, education, political science, religion, literary criticisms, medical, social science, philosophy, technology and engineering, and world history. It features e-books from leading publishers and university presses such as Cambridge, Elsevier, Sage, Oxford, and Wiley. These e-books are available with unlimited user access, and new titles are added regularly to the collection.
