WorldCat Celebrates 40 Years
Founded in Ohio 40 years ago, WorldCat now includes the holdings of 72,000 libraries in 170 countries worldwide. "On August 26, 1971, the OCLC Online Union Catalog and Shared Cataloging system (now known as WorldCat) began operation. That first day, from a single terminal, catalogers at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, cataloged 133 books online. Today, WorldCat comprises more than 240 million records representing more than 1.7 billion items in OCLC member libraries worldwide." Happy Birthday WorldCat!

Faculty College: Library Session
Join reference librarians Craig Gable, Jeff Pinkhan, and Kathryn Venditti in the Library Instruction Classroom (library ground floor) at 1:00 pm on Thursday, August 18th.
"Designed for new and returning faculty at all AU campuses, this session will help faculty become actuanted with library staff, our collection, and faculty services. learn how to use the library web site to access datbases, e-journals, e-books, research grant sources, and digital media. We will discuss electronic services, your library acquisition requestions, interlibrary loan, OhioLINK automated book borrowing, and current awareness services geared to your research interests. We will also cover our library instruction programs that tailors assignment-specific research sessions for your classes on any AU campus."
