Hours Update: After Finals

AU Library hours after finals are noted below. 

• Thursday, December 13:  7:45 am to 5:00 pm

Returning Library Materials

Remember to return or renew borrowed library materials, books, CDs, DVDs, IRC resources, and especially OhioLINK items, before leaving campus for winter break.

Returning after hours? A book drop is located by the library service entrance, near the UPS pick up. IRC items (materials kits, big books) may not fit in the book drop and need to be returned during library hours.

Therapy Dogs: It's not too late!

Did you miss the dogs on Saturday?  Never fear, it's not too late. Here's the schedule for doggy visits.

Extended Hours Start Today!

Today is the first day of our extended hours schedule. 
What does that mean?

AU Library will follow its extended hour's schedule opening at the regular time and remaining open until 2:00 am, Sunday through Thursday, providing study and work space for students during the last week of classes and finals. Extended hours for Friday and Saturday will also be available.

Database Access Restored

Database access has been fully restored for on and off campus use.  If you experience problems, please clear your browser history and try again.  If the problem persists, contact the library reference desk at extension 5402.

Database Access Unavailable

We are currently experiencing problems with access to databases on and off campus from the library web site.  Limited results are available using OneSearch, the remainder of our resources are not connecting.  A help ticket has been submitted.

Access to databases on campus through OhioLINK's Research Database page is providing results at this time. Be sure to select the 'Listing of OhioLINK Provided Research Databases' option.

Library Spotlight: OhioLINK

Did you find just the right item in AU Library catalog only to realize it is checked out to someone else?  Do you need an edition of a book we do not yet have?

If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, be sure to check OhioLINK via the AU library catalog! The item you want may be available at another library; request the item and it can be delivered here, or to any other participating OhioLINK library location, for free.

Yes.  Free.  Really!

AU Librarian's will be able to help you locate and request OhioLINK items. Our friendly circulation staff will guide you through the check-out process when your item arrives, provide information about due dates, and assist with renewals. Ask for help at the main desk, we'll take it from there.

AU Library's fall hours schedule begins Monday, August 27th. A complete listing of library hours updates including exceptions to regular operating hours, such as holidays and semester breaks, is located on the library web site.

OhioLINK Catalog Maintenance

Two maintenance windows requiring downtime have been scheduled for the OhioLINK Central Catalog have been scheduled for this week.

• Thursday, 8/23, from 5:00 to 7:00 am · 
• Friday, 8/24, from 5:00 am to 7:00 am 

OhioLINK's catalog will be unavailable for 15 to 30 minutes during these times. While Central is down, patrons will not be able to navigate to the OhioLINK catalog, and any renewals of items checked out through the catalog will be queued for processing until the maintenance is over.

AU Library catalog will remain available during this maintenance window. However, any OhioLINK renewals made will also be queued until updates are complete.

AU Library Hours for the July 4th holiday week are as follows:

• Wednesday, 7/4:  8:00 am to 4:00 pm

OhioLINK Catalog

Planned Maintenance on 6/25

"On Monday, 6/25, there will be extended maintenance done on the Central Catalog between 2:00 am and 10:00 am. We are anticipating that the OhioLINK Catalog will not be available during this maintenance window."

"Please be aware that while Central is down, patrons will not be able to navigate to Central and any renewals of items checked out through Central will be queued for processing until the maintenance is completed." - OhioLINK User Services

Library Resources Down as IT makes major change to network

As of late Thursday most library resources are inaccessible as IT makes a major change to the campus network.  We have been given no estimate of how long it will take to resolve the problems.

Interlibrary Loan Requests Problem

Users of our OneSearch and EBSCO databases are typically able to submit direct requests for interlibrary borrowing of articles cited in those databases.  EBSCO is currently investigating a problem with that functionality that began Friday, June 1st.  Until the problem is resolved, we have replaced the links to the request forms with a message that refers you to the Quick Link for Interlibrary Loan on the library main page.

If since Friday you submitted an interlibrary request please be aware that it has not reached us.  You can resubmit such requests using the Quick Link on the library main page.  We apologize for the inconvenience.  If you have questions about your requests, please write to us at ill@ashland.edu

Once the database links to the request forms are restored you will again be able to use them to submit direct requests for interlibrary borrowing.

Library Spotlight: Welcome Scott Savage

AU Library Director

Scott Savage has accepted the position of Library Director at Ashland University effective June 4. Scott most recently served as interim director of the AU Library after serving for five years as director of Foundation and Government Relations for the Office of Institutional Advancement. His Master of Library Science degree is from Kent State University.

On-Campus access to EBSCO (Academic Search Complete, Business Source Complete, Education Research Complete), Gale (Virtual Reference Library), and ProQuest (Dissertations, Ebook Central) databases has been restored.
