AU Library has designated the 4th and 5th floors as quiet spaces during extended hours and finals week, November 30th - December 10th. Comfortable open study areas are available to students on both floors.
Interested in reserving a study room?
Stop at the circulation desk and reserve one of our study rooms on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th floors for a maximum of three hours. Please note, students using a reserved study room will be asked to vacate the room.

AU Library Congratulates Kathryn Venditti
Reference and Instruction librarian Kathryn Venditti was honored at the Academic Library Association of Ohio (ALAO) 40th Annual Conference on Friday, November 14th, with the Jay Ladd Distinguished Service Award.
Kathryn is an active member of ALAO; her service has included being chair of the Distance Learning Interest Group, chair of the Instruction Interest Group, member of the Conference Program Committee, and Interest Group Coordinator. Join AU Library in congratulating Kathryn for receiving this distinguished award.
"This award recognizes an individual who (1) has been an ALAO member for at least 5 years, and (2) who has promoted academic libraries and librarianship not only on his or her own campus, but also within the state. OhioLINK: AU Columbus Center
OhioLINK courier service to the Columbus Center will be discontinued at the end of this semester.
Beginning today, Monday, November 10th, the option to select AU Columbus Center as a pick-up location will not be available. Please note that materials already in transit will be delivered to the Columbus Center.
All students may use the OhioLINK pick-up anywhere option and have requested materials delivered to any participating OhioLINK library (member institution). After selecting an item to request, choose a pick up institution location from the drop down menu on the request verification page.

First in our series of LibGuides information posts is Electronic Reserves, or E-Reserves. Faculty may place items on E-reserve for course use; items are secure, access is password protected, and each course has a unique password which is provided to the
instructor for student use both on and off campus.

E-reserves may be added as a dedicated tab for quick and easy access.
E-Reserves are accessible through AU Library web site and LibGuides portal. From the library web site, select the research guides link directly below OneSearch.
About Electronic Reserves
A variety of file formats are accepted including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, PDF, and image (.jpeg or .gif, great for infographics). AU Library and OhioLINK database links and general Internet resources may also be included in course e-reserve selections.
To submit an item for electronic reserve, complete the submission form and return it with a clean, readable copy of the reserve item to the circulation desk. Images may be submitted via email attachment on an as needed basis. Please allow seven to ten days, Monday through Friday, for access to new reserve items.

The OhioLINK Library Catalog will be down early Thursday morning, August 21st, as it undergoes several upgrades. OhioLINK expects it to be down from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m., so most of us won't notice. Early risers may as well sleep in.

What's new? LibGuides
We are excited to announce an update to Ashland University Library's LibGuide information portal and Electronic Reserves. LibGuides - or Library Guides - feature the same great library research help, course support, and information; same easy access to electronic reserves; all with an updated design and increased functionality for users.
Accessing Library guides is easy; from the AU Library home page select the Research Guide link directly below OneSearch or the Library Help quick links. Electronic Reserves, or E-Res, are accessible from the library home page via the Reserves link on the left side bar. It is also possible to find E-Reserves directly from the LibGuides home page. We will be sharing more about our LibGuides update and resources available in the coming weeks.
Special thanks to Chad Draper and Joe Ellis in Web Services for their exceptional work customizing LibGuides, it functions seamlessly with the AU Library site. Did you know it is possible to reserve a study room in the library? Study rooms may be reserved for three hour blocks of time throughout the academic year.
- Network computers in the study rooms print to the library main floor.
- White boards are available for use
- Markers and erasers are available at the circulation desk.

OhioLINK Service Interruptions Wednesday
On Wednesday evening, February 5th, OhioLINK expects two brief service interruptions as it performs maintenance on its system. Services affected will include the OhioLINK website, OhioLINK Catalog and request system, databases, and other web services. The interruptions are expected to last no more than a minute each.

In observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, please note the following AU Library hours schedule updates:
- Saturday, January 18th - Closed

- Monday, January 20th - Open 6 pm to 11 pm

Library Catalog Problem Corrected
Off-campus access to the library catalog has been restored, along with everything that depends on it, including the ability to place OhioLINK requests and get off-campus access to OhioLINK's Electronic Journal Center. If you have any difficulty getting access to any library resources, close your browser and ty again, and if problems continue contact us at library@ashland.edu or text us at 419-768-6106.
