Reserve a Library Study Room Online

Need a quiet place to study or attend your online class?
Starting today, you can reserve a library study room online! 

We have study rooms available on the second floor (201), fourth floor (401), and fifth floor (501 and 502). Reservations are required; each study room has an occupancy limit and may be reserved in one hour increments. 

AU Library's study room requests are limited to five (5) reservations each month.

AU Library's fall hours schedule begins Monday, August 31st. 

• Monday - Thursday: 7:45 am to Midnight
• Friday: 7:45 am to 5:00 pm 
• Saturday: Noon to 4:00 pm 
• Sunday: 1:00 pm to Midnight

Welcome back to campus!

Ashland University Library will be open to all university faculty, staff, and students beginning Monday, August 24th. Our hours are:

Monday, August 24th - Friday, August 28th
8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Instructional Resource Center, located on Ashland University Library's second floor, is open for RAs by appointment only. 

Visitors to Ashland University Library should expect to follow all university mandates for phase 3 return to campus.

• Masks are required in AU Library.
• Adherence to social distancing guidelines is expected within the library building. 
• Follow all modified library procedures for the library building and services.
  

 

AU Library is NOT open to the general public at this time.

Library Catalog Outage [RESOLVED]

The library catalog (www.library.ashland.edu) is currently unavailable due to a university network issue. Other services that use information from the catalog, like OneSearch and the OhioLINK Central Catalog, may experience issues with providing information on Ashland's holdings. Currently, there is no timeline for resolution, but this post will be updated when the issue is resolved. If you need help finding library resources or are experiencing issues with other services, please email library@ashland.edu.

Active Learning Lab Progress

AU Library: Active Learning Lab

Progress on the Bernice Fauber Baker Active Learning Lab, located on the main floor of Ashland University Library, continues. Drywall is in place and glass doors are scheduled to be installed this week. 

We are excited to see the construction updates on our innovative library instruction lab.

New Library Display in a New Place

You probably already know about the display cases that are in front of the Library building, but the Library recently added to a Display Case over in Upper Convo to its display possibilities. We are going to use the case to continue interesting displays and the first one is focusing on our favorite interesting thing: the Library!

The first display put in Upper Convo is “Library Snapshot” which is designed to give a glimpse into the history and impact of the Library through ‘snapshots’ of information. 

    

The display includes some little-known facts about the Library accompanied by some historic photographs pulled from the AU Archives. For history buffs or anyone who loves books as much as me, you can also see the old library card stamp cards in some of the displayed books with one even showing its accompanied card from the card catalog as well as some of the yearbooks from the late 1970s. Since opening in 1972, the Library here at Ashland University has undergone many changes, but always remains central to the community and student life. 

I am currently working on future displays to be installed in Upper Convo and the Library cases that will showcase the Special Collections held by Ashland University Library.  If you have ideas about future displays or want to learn more about this display, please feel free to contact me, Jessica Byers, AU Library Curator and Reference Librarian, at jbyers7@ashland.edu.

Library Spotlight: Active Learning Lab

Ashland University Library’s faculty and staff are excited to announce that construction work has begun on a new active learning lab/classroom!

AU Library Active Learning Lab:  June 26, 2020

The Bernice Fauber Baker Active Learning Laboratory will have its home on the main floor of the library, with a design and technological features representing an innovative departure from the long rows of desks and desktop computers of the previous library classroom.

AU Library Active Learning Lab:  June 30, 2020

The construction project is funded by a donation from the Bernice Fauber Baker Library Endowment, with a matching gift from the Bob and Jan Archer Challenge Grant. The active learning equipment and furnishings are supported by a grant from the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), awarded by the State Library of Ohio.
