"The Ohio Book Awards, presented by the Ohioana Library, are the second oldest, and among the most prestigious, state literary prizes in the nation. Nearly every notable Ohio writer of the past 78 years has been honored. Originally called the Ohioana Book Award, the first award, presented in 1942, was given in the category of nonfiction to James Reston’s Prelude to Victory. "
"Choose to Read Ohio (CTRO) spotlights Ohio authors and illustrators and promotes reading across Ohio. The CTRO booklists are selected by Ohio librarians and educators. Each annual booklist highlights 20 notable titles by Ohio authors and illustrators. Categories include books for young children, middle grades/tweens, teens, and adults."
"The Buckeye Children’s and Teen Book Award program is designed to encourage students in Ohio to read literature critically, to promote teacher and librarian involvement in young adult literature programs, and to commend authors of such literature. "
"The Norman A. Sugarman Children’s Biography Award was established in 1998 to honor excellence in the field of biography for children. The Sugarman Award is given biennially to a writer and/or illustrator of a new biography for children in kindergarten through 8th grades. The award recipient is chosen by a committee appointed by Cleveland Public Library."
"The Nancy Dasher Award, given by the College English Association of Ohio (CEAO), recognizes outstanding publications by faculty members from a CEAO-member department at an Ohio college or university. The award is given in one of three categories each year: professional and pedagogical issues, creative writing, and literary scholarship and criticism."
"Awarded annually, the Thurber Prize for American Humor is prestigious honor for humor writing in the United States. The Thurber Prize returned to its roots in 2018 and is now presented each year in James Thurber’s hometown of Columbus."
"Inaugurated in 2006, the Dayton Literary Peace Prize is the first and only annual U.S. literary award recognizing the power of the written word to promote peace. The Dayton Literary Peace Prize recognizes adult fiction and nonfiction books that have led readers to a better understanding of other cultures, peoples, religions, and political points of view. "
"The Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards recognize books that have made important contributions to our understanding of racism and human diversity. Presented by the Cleveland Foundation, it remains the only American book prize focusing on works that address racism and diversity. Categories include Fiction, Nonfiction, Poetry, and Lifetime and Landmark."

The Archer Library Excellence in Undergraduate Research Award, sponsored by Archer Library and the Instructional Resource Center, recognizes excellence in research for a student project presented during the Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity (URCA) Symposium.
The award application process required a 250-word (or more) research process essay describing research strategies and use of library tools including library databases, discovery service, and selection of search terms. The essay required student reflection of the research process itself. Applicants were required to provide a bibliography or works cited paper for their final project.

Prabesh Sunar, for Campus Exchange Marketplace — Investigating Behavior in a Zero-Price Campus Exchange System
Prabesh's research and essay examined: "How does a campus-exclusive, zero=price digital exchange platform shape participation, trust, and patterns of resource redistribution among students, faculty, and staff?" (Sunar, P., Archer Library Research Essay, 2026).
